As of Python 3.3, the 3rd-party `mock` package has been subsumed into the
standard `unittest.mock` package. Refactoring tests to use the latter will
allow us to drop `mock` as a dependency, which is currently coming in
transitively through requirements/edx/paver.in.
We don't actually drop the `mock` dependency in this PR. That will happen
naturally in:
* https://github.com/openedx/edx-platform/pull/34830
This commit addresses to the need to add an API for Sidebar Navigation
that returns the course structure with sections, subsections, and
**units**, according to user access rules. (Previous outline requests
only went down to subsections.)
To improve the performance of the API, we cache the course structure
for a user, which makes it much easier to calculate the block structure
for the user at each request. However, there may be cases when this
caching can lead to an overflow of the cache storage in high-loaded LMS
with large courses, so the corresponding flag
"courseware.disable_navigation_sidebar_blocks_caching" was added so
that this caching can be disabled.
* chore: update API endpoints to support default JWT auth
The default DRF Auth classes were recently updated to allow for both JWT and Session auth by default. Any endpoint that overrides the AUTHENTICATION_CLASSES but has just session, just JWT or just both of those should be updated to remove the override.
Details in https://github.com/openedx/edx-platform/issues/33662
This does two major things:
* Removes subsections from a student's course outline if the
subsection's units are all restricted to a cohort that the student
is not a part of (see CohortPartitionGroupsOutlineProcessor).
* Removes sections from the course outline if the user is not allowed
to see any of its child subsections.
- Moving xmodule folder to root as we're dissolving sub-projects of common folder in edx-platform
- More info: https://openedx.atlassian.net/browse/BOM-2579
- -e common/lib/xmodule has been removed from the requirements as xmodule has itself become the part of edx-platform and not being installed through requirements
- The test files common/lib/xmodule/test_files/ have been removed as they are not being used anymore
BREAKING: get rid of the LegacyWaffle-based CourseWaffleFlag.
Both CourseWaffleFlag and FutureCourseWaffleFlag now use the modern
WaffleFlag as parent class. FutureCourseWaffleFlag left to support ORA
transition to modern waffle.
Switch to the ORA version which supporting new Waffles.
This is a first stage for removing the LegacyWaffle* classes.
LegacyWaffleFlag usage replaced with WaffleFlag;
LegacyWaffleSwitche usage replaced with WaffleSwitch;
New CourseWaffleFlag added to the temporary module __future__ as FutureCourseWaffleFlag;
Updated all the imports to use CourseWaffleFlag from the __future__ module;
BREAKING CHANGE: A number of toggle related constants (e.g. ENABLE_ACCESSIBILITY_POLICY_PAGE)
changed types. They were strings, and are now toggle instances (e.g. WaffleSwitch). Although the entire
refactor should be self-contained in edx-platform, if any plugins or dependencies were directly
using these constants, they will break. If this is the case, try to find a better publicized way of
exposing those toggles.
In some cases the course blocks API was returning a dict without
a 'children' key, which was causing a traceback.
If the course blocks API has no children, that's IS a problem, but
still better than erroring out due to a KeyError.

Specifically:
- enrollment has ended or not begun (whoops!)
- is full (at/over max enrollment)
Before this change in these cases, we would still show an enroll
button which wasn't functional, causing user confusion.

The only way to access the legacy courseware is now through the
Studio preview feature (and at some point, when the MFE supports a
preview mode, we can then remove even that).
This drops the courseware.use_legacy_frontend waffle.
This was the "outline tab" view of the course. Preceded by the
course info view, succeeded by the MFE outline tab.
In addition to the course home view itself, this drops related
features:
- Legacy version of Course Goals (MFE has a newer implementation)
- Course home in-course search (MFE has no search)
The old course info view and course about views survive for now.
This also drops a few now-unused feature toggles:
- course_experience.latest_update
- course_experience.show_upgrade_msg_on_course_home
- course_experience.upgrade_deadline_message
- course_home.course_home_use_legacy_frontend
With this change, just the progress and courseware tabs are still
supported in legacy form, if you opt-in with waffle flags. The
outline and dates tabs are offered only by the MFE.

(This is identical to previous commit be5c1a6, just reintroduced
now that the e2e tests have been fixed)
This was the "outline tab" view of the course. Preceded by the
course info view, succeeded by the MFE outline tab.
In addition to the course home view itself, this drops related
features:

This also drops a few now-unused feature toggles:
- course_experience.latest_update
- course_experience.show_upgrade_msg_on_course_home
- course_experience.upgrade_deadline_message
- course_home.course_home_use_legacy_frontend
With this change, just the progress and courseware tabs are still
supported in legacy form, if you opt-in with waffle flags. The

For the dates courseware tab, we no longer respect the
course_home_use_legacy_frontend waffle flag that enabled the
legacy version in Maple.
Instead, we always send the user to the MFE.
MFEs will be required for the Nutmeg release. This dates tab is
the first to fall, but others will follow.

In certain situations, learners in the nonpassing state (or sometimes
students who have finished a course too early and passed) were getting
information about their grad and certificate status before they were
supposed too.
This adds some data to the courseware api that will allow us to mirror
availability states for certifictes of passing learners withour
revealing information through the api. Now, no matter the status of the
students grade or certificate display behavior, a student should not see
information about certificates early.
Previously, the course grade returned would be the stored grade,
which is calculated for all content, not just the visible grades.
(Some grades are not yet released to the learner.)
This fix recalculates the overall grade before sending to the MFE,
so that it doesn't have to recompute it itself (without all the
particular logic that the platform uses when grading).
