6bb0eee3c6 Make the i18n service available everywhere. 
To get all dates localized, we need all runtimes to have the i18n
service, and since runtimes are made by the modulestores, we need to
pass it to them.

Soon (fingers crossed), modulestores won't be involved in making
runtimes, and many of these changes will go away.

7ac13bf81e Don't show course start date if it hasn't been set. 
If neither start nor advertised_start has been changed from default
don't show the course start date.

This allows us to accept course registrations for courses whose start
date is yet TBD.

46109bb3e8 Use XBlock xml serialization and deserialization 
XModules continue to use their own interface for xml, but provide an
adaptor that makes the the XBlock interface available.

e4302e62d2 Allow course image uploads in the settings page. 
Authors can upload an image (or choose an existing one) from the
settings page, using the in-context uploader from PDF
textbooks. Includes tests for backwards compatibility with XML courses
-- they used a magic filename (images/course_image.jpg) which is
mapped to a location in the Mongo contentstore.

Still needs some UX work, though the backend plumbing is there.

8584aae866 It seems like self.tabs is getting set to an empty set [] now rather than None. This causes the tab defaulting to not populate, leading to crashes in the LMS if someone makes a new course with additional tabs (e.g. static tabs or pdf-textbooks) 2013-07-23 15:34:02 -04:00

df7b917b40 Implement next generation modulestore 
A new modulestore backed by mongo that changes the data format to
facilitate easy versioning, sharing content between courses, and fast
lookup of course structure and Scope.settings data.

bf8e5e6ba1 Simple port of Class2Go's chat feature 
Embed a chat widget (much like the calculator widget) into the
courseware. To use, you must point it at an ejabberd box,
configured as `JABBER_DOMAIN` in the settings.

3722685e1a No longer persist XModule templates 
Instead, we use XModule field default values when creating an empty
XModule. Driven by this use case, we also allow for XModules to be
created in memory without being persisted to the database at all. This
necessitates a change to the Modulestore api, replacing clone_item with
create_draft and save_xmodule.

8c904f31a9 Move defaults from yaml templates to field definitions. 
This standardizes the XModule field default values to be the same as the
values that are presented by studio when a component is added to a
course.

824fb9a311 The bulk of Shibboleth authentication for Stanford 
Highlights:
* The url '/shib-login/' interfaces with apache/mod_shib via
  request.META to handle shibboleth login and registrations
* Courses can designate 'enrollment_domains' to limit enrollment
  to users with a linked ExternalAuthMap verified by a particular
  identity provider
